GEOG10 (Schmidt): Get Started

You are asked to write a minimum of 4-page research paper on a California county. You should include the geography, history,  demographics, industries, and economy of the county, and explain how these elements are interrelated and how they affect the development of the county. (Refer to the guiding questions in your syllabus.)

You will need to use at least 5 sources for your paper. For this research assignment, you are more likely to find factual information from state or local government websites. Click on the Finding & Evaluating Websites tab to see recommended websites for this assignment. For some counties and industries, you can also find information from books and research databases.

Follow this research process:

1. Do background research on the county of your choice, Note important facts and search keywords for further research.
2. Group main points in logical order and create an outline for your paper.
3. Research more to find detail information for each of your outlined item (remember to take note and document sources as you research).
