Ebook Best Practices: Home

Step One:

Either click on the link provided by your instructor, or if you are searching in the catalog, click the title to open the record. Navigate to the "View Online" section and click on the ebook provider link. See below:

Step Two:

You are now in the ebook viewer. Here are the best practices when viewing the ebook:

• To view the book, use the Table of Contents hyperlinks to view the materials.
• Check to see if any copies are available 
• You are given a daily number of pages that you can either download to read offline or print. Note: some publishers do not allow any printing.
• It is recommended that you do not download the full book. 
• After 30 min. of inactivity, the ebook will release and the next person can view the ebook online. 

More Options

If you are interested you can create an account within EbscoHost or Proquest. It will be separate from your Butte College email and password account. Features available to you when creating an account include:

• Ability to place a hold if an ebook is currently checked out
• Bookmark the book in a folder for easy access
