MESA: Get Started

Research skills for MESA students.

Before you start your project it is a good idea to plan ahead and get organized. On this page, you will find tools to help you get started with your research.

Preparing for Your Research

The library has created a series of video tutorials to help students throughout the research process. Below you will find videos to help you start your project and get organized.

Though you can use the internet for research, it is good to know when it is best to use Google and when it is best to use library resources. This quick video will illustrate some good reasons to use library databases instead of Google.

Now that you know why databases are a good option for research you will need to determine which database is best for your particular subject. Watch this short video for some help in choosing the best database for your research.

Now you should have a good idea of where you can go to start your research. However, you will want to make sure you are organize and prepared to keep track of your research. Watch this short video to help you prepare for keeping track of your resources.
