Message of Support

Librarians are here to support you in your online classes. We have many online options to help you and your students.

Library Instruction in Your Online Class

If you meet with your class synchronously (on a specific day and time) via Zoom, a librarian can join on a prearranged day and time to walk your students through the research process for your assignment.   Fill out this form to schedule your Librarian Instruction Session. You can also email "your librarian".   Also encourage your students to reach out to us for a one-on-one session with a librarian.

Research Guides for Your Course

The library has created numerous research guides for students that walk them through the research process. We can create a general guide for your class or something specific to your assignment. Email the librarian for your subject area using the list to the right. Send us as much info as you can about your research assignment (attaching your assignment to the email helps us a lot!) and we'll start working on it.  Allow us at least a week to create your specific guide.

"Embed" a Librarian in Canvas

For classes that have a heavy research component it may be beneficial to add a librarian to your Canvas course. "Embedding" a librarian in your course allows students to contact the librarian directly through the Canvas inbox. A librarian role has already been created by TMI so it's easy to set up. For more information, contact your subject librarian using the box on the right, or email us at referenceli@butte.edu

Video Tutorials

We've created lots of short and helpful video tutorials that can walk your students through the research process.  You can find all our video tutorials here.  (Keep checking the page, since we'll be adding more throughout the semester.)  Grab the URL to the page and place it in Canvas near your research assignments.  You can also embed specific videos in Canvas.  Since all the videos are on YouTube, embedding is easy.  Email your subject librarian or referenceli@butte.edu for help.
