The Library has a new staff member! We'd like to welcome Jason Pien, who agreed to write up a short introduction:
My name is Jason Pien. I’m a Senior Library Technician. You can find me at LB 212, overseeing the library computers and periodicals, helping with circulation, reserves, and student workers. I’ve been working in libraries for 17 years. I’ve recently worked at the El Dorado County Library for ten years. Prior to that I worked at The Art Institute and Chico State libraries. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my wife, toddler, and three cats.
Come and say hello to Jason sometime soon. Sadly, the baby kangaroo won't be here.
And we're saying goodbye to another staff member, Marie:
My name is Marie LoPresti; I got my first library card when I was four and have worked in libraries since I was nineteen. I think libraries are one of the most important and overlooked resources of any community. I have always treasured the adventures and education you can find between the covers of a well written book.
For the last year I have been employed at Butte College, first as a student assistant in the library and then as the interim Library Technician in charge of Circulation and Reserves and acting as supervisor to our student assistants. Unfortunately, my interim position is coming to an end soon, but I just wanted to say that Butte has been an amazing place to work and I have really enjoyed my time here. The library is absolutely the best and full of amazing people. Thank you and best wishes to all my wonderful colleagues and amazing student assistants; I will miss you!
