Everyone's talking about anti-racist books and putting out reading guides, but at the same time, it's not easy to get these books during the Covid lockdown.  So we've put together a resource list of Butte College Library books ... that are available in e-book format for you.  We have many more titles in hard copies, but those are currently inaccessible, so this list is all e-books.  Just click on the book title's link, log in with your MyBC profile, and start reading!

Our list is still under construction, but we wanted to get it out to you as soon as we could.  Please be patient while we fill it out more.  If there's a book you'd like to recommend for us to purchase, fill out our recommendation form!   We want to hear your suggestions.

We hope you enjoy the Library's Anti-Racist Reading List.

Do you wish you could go on vacation or travel this summer? There are many ways you can explore the world from home! Here are a few ideas:

  • Interested in Japan? A former Butte College international student from Japan has been creating videos all about Japan called "What is Japan Like?" You can view them on her YouTube channel Japanese Girl. The videos are in English but you will also hear some fun Japanese phrases.
  • A BBC article "Virtual Worlds: Can We Travel Without Traveling?" shares some methods of traveling virtually.
  • Forbes ranks the "The World’s 15 Best Virtual Tours To Take During Coronavirus." Tours include the Louvre and the Great Wall of China.
  • You can learn a language or practice your skills with Mango Languages. You will learn the language, culture, and useful tips for travel. Make sure to check out the videos in the "Explore" section of your language choice.
  • You could also play the geography game GeoGuessr as recommended by one of our librarians. The game uses Google Maps and places you somewhere in the world. The closer you guess to the correct spot, the higher your points.
