Map with camera and passport

Do you wish you could go on vacation or travel this summer? There are many ways you can explore the world from home! Here are a few ideas:

  • Interested in Japan? A former Butte College international student from Japan has been creating videos all about Japan called "What is Japan Like?" You can view them on her YouTube channel Japanese Girl. The videos are in English but you will also hear some fun Japanese phrases.
  • A BBC article "Virtual Worlds: Can We Travel Without Traveling?" shares some methods of traveling virtually.
  • Forbes ranks the "The World’s 15 Best Virtual Tours To Take During Coronavirus." Tours include the Louvre and the Great Wall of China.
  • You can learn a language or practice your skills with Mango Languages. You will learn the language, culture, and useful tips for travel. Make sure to check out the videos in the "Explore" section of your language choice.
  • You could also play the geography game GeoGuessr as recommended by one of our librarians. The game uses Google Maps and places you somewhere in the world. The closer you guess to the correct spot, the higher your points.
